Head of Human Resources (Cluster) – Malawi

About the role

The Head of Human Resources will lead the HR function for Ecobank Malawi and its regional cluster, shaping and executing a people strategy that supports business objectives and fosters a high‑performance culture.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement the affiliate and cluster HR strategy in line with Group HR and business goals.
• Lead HR practices that promote empowerment, quality, productivity and continuous development.
• Propose and execute initiatives to ensure adequate human‑resource capacity for the affiliate and cluster.
• Provide guidance and counseling to employees and Cluster HR Heads.
• Ensure compliance with all labour‑related legislation and maintain a clear policy framework.
• Oversee all HR administration functions across the affiliate and cluster.
• Drive skills and organisational development, offering technical advice on labour matters.
• Formulate HR policies and procedures, review HR operations and information systems.
• Manage talent acquisition, succession planning, learning & development, compensation & benefits, employee relations and performance management.
• Conduct skills audits, maintain bench strength and develop career paths and personal development plans for high‑potential staff.

Required profile

• Proven senior HR leadership experience, preferably within banking or a comparable sector.
• Deep knowledge of Malawi labour laws and HR best practices.
• Strong strategic thinking, advisory and counseling abilities.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence at all organisational levels.
