About the role

The University of Malawi invites applications for Lecturer, Senior Lecturer, Associate Professor and Professor positions in Human Resource Management. The successful candidates will be responsible for delivering high‑quality teaching, advancing research, and contributing to community outreach and resource mobilisation within the Department.

Key responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Human Resource Management, Human Resource Development, Industrial Relations, Marketing Principles, Research Methods, Strategic Management and related subjects, including setting and timely marking of examinations.
• Conduct original research in the area of specialisation, publish findings in reputable journals, and initiate new research projects.
• Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate student projects, theses and dissertations, providing academic guidance and mentorship.
• Participate actively in departmental academic and professional activities, including curriculum development, seminars and conferences.
• Lead and support resource mobilisation initiatives, community engagement programmes, and collaborative projects with external partners.

Required profile

• For Lecturer: Master’s or PhD in Public Administration, Human Resource Management, Business Administration or a related discipline, plus a Bachelor’s degree awarded with credit.
• For Senior Lecturer, Associate Professor or Professor: a strong record of scholarly publications, demonstrated research initiative, and evidence of community outreach and engagement.
• Leadership abilities, creativity, and capacity to mobilise resources are considered advantageous.
• Commitment to academic excellence, teaching quality and continuous professional development.

Required skills

• Proficiency in teaching and curriculum development for HR‑related subjects.
• Expertise in research methodology, scholarly writing and publication processes.
