Human Resources Manager

About the role

GiveDirectly Malawi is scaling its operations and seeks a Human Resources Manager to act as a strategic partner to the Country Director. The role combines hands‑on payroll management with organisational design, recruitment and culture stewardship.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as strategic thought partner on organisational design, workforce planning and people‑related risk.
• Own end‑to‑end recruitment, including job description development, sourcing, screening and selection.
• Manage payroll processing, benefits administration and ensure compliance with Malawi labour law.
• Design and continuously improve onboarding, performance management and professional development programmes.
• Lead salary benchmarking, employee relations, disciplinary and grievance processes.
• Plan and deliver team‑building and staff‑engagement activities to reinforce culture and values.

Required profile

• 5–7 years progressive HR experience, preferably in international development, NGOs or high‑growth organisations.
• Hands‑on experience running payroll and conducting compensation benchmarking.
• Proven track record of building or modernising HR processes, including automation or digital tools.
• Degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration or related field.
• Strong alignment with GiveDirectly’s mission and values.
