Field Manager – External Relations (Malawi)

About the role

GiveDirectly is seeking a Field Manager – External Relations to act as the on‑the‑ground representative for the organization in districts across Malawi. Reporting to the Senior Manager – External Relations, you will translate national strategies into trusted relationships with district authorities, community leaders, NGOs and private sector partners.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain strong working relationships with district‑level officials, community leaders and NGOs.
• Identify partnership opportunities and lead district entry processes for new operational locations.
• Gather, synthesize and interpret qualitative and quantitative data to produce clear reports that inform decision‑making.
• Monitor political, economic and social trends, producing briefs on emerging conditions that could affect programme delivery.
• Support local awareness‑raising activities, community meetings and information sessions about GiveDirectly’s programmes.
• Coordinate with field operations and programme teams to align external‑relations activities with programme timelines.
• Represent GiveDirectly at district‑level forums, coordination meetings and community events.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and professional fluency in English and Chichewa.
• 3–4 years of experience in stakeholder engagement, government relations or partnership work, with strong understanding of government protocols.
• Demonstrated ability to conduct independent research, analyse data and produce structured reports.
• Strong judgement, ability to identify local risks and take timely action in complex situations.
• Excellent communication and facilitation skills for engaging high‑level government and non‑government stakeholders.
• Self‑motivated, able to work independently in field settings and manage competing priorities.
