Deputy Registrar - Marketing and Communication

About the role

The Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences (MUBAS) is looking to fill a position in its Registry Services Department, reporting to the Registrar. The post is currently being reviewed and may be offered as Head of Marketing and Communication. The university is repositioning itself to meet international standards of scholarship and a modern business culture.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, review and monitor the implementation of marketing and communication policies, plans, strategies, programmes, standards and budgets.
• Market the University's products, services and brand.
• Carry out market surveys and coordinate community engagement programmes.
• Coordinate media relations and consumer affairs, and prepare press releases, press briefings, press kits and other communication materials.
• Prepare marketing collateral for corporate relations activities and represent the University at various fora.
• Act as the Information Officer under the Access to Information Act.

Required profile

• Master's or Bachelor's degree in Marketing or Business Administration.
• Membership of the Institute of Marketers in Malawi; professional certifications such as CIM are welcome.
• At least 5 years' experience in marketing and communication at a senior level, including hands-on experience running a marketing department.
• Excellent communication skills.

Required skills

• Audio-visual production software such as Adobe Audition, Adobe Premiere and Adobe After Effects.
• Graphic design software such as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign and Adobe Illustrator.
