Ecosystem Influencing Strategy Consultant for Ending Child Marriage

About the role

The consultancy will design a comprehensive, evidence‑based influencing strategy to accelerate progress toward Malawi’s National Strategy to End Child Marriage (NSECM). Working remotely with occasional travel to Lilongwe, Mzimba and Machinga, the consultant will collaborate with the MAP technical lead and a small internal advocacy team.

Key responsibilities

• Produce an inception report detailing methodology, tools and budget for the assignment.
• Conduct a contextual analysis of the child‑marriage and influencing landscape, including stakeholder mapping for key districts.
• Facilitate strategy workshops, capture consultation findings and produce a brief consultation report.
• Develop a costed influencing strategy for 2027‑2030, accompanied by internal resourcing recommendations.
• Deliver a finalised influencing strategy document and support internal and national coalition validation.

Required profile

• Post‑graduate degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Gender Studies or related field.
• Over 10 years of experience in participatory advocacy strategy design and coalition‑building.
• Demonstrated knowledge of the Malawi context on child marriage across geographical regions.
• Proven ability to facilitate multi‑stakeholder workshops and co‑create survivor‑ and youth‑centred solutions.
• Extensive experience working with local communities, CBOs, NGOs and INGOs in Eastern/Southern Africa.
