Social & Behaviour Change Specialist (Fixed‑Term, Malawi)

About the role

The Social & Behaviour Change (SBC) Specialist will provide technical assistance and support the design, implementation, monitoring and reporting of SBC programmes in Malawi. Working under the guidance of the SBC Specialist (Gender) and in coordination with sectoral teams, the role contributes to evidence‑based strategies that advance child rights and development outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical assistance for SBC programme design, implementation, monitoring and reporting.
• Support the development of systematic, evidence‑based SBC strategies and policies.
• Assist in operationalising accountability to affected populations mechanisms across SBC and sectoral programmes.
• Engage and coordinate with government counterparts, development partners, civil society and other stakeholders.
• Mobilise resources and facilitate partnerships to strengthen programme delivery.
• Support evidence generation to demonstrate measurable results and impact.
• Contribute to improving programme quality, reach and effectiveness.

Required profile

• Relevant experience in social and behaviour change programmes in development or humanitarian contexts.
• Ability to work under supervision and collaborate with multi‑sectoral teams.
• Strong coordination skills with external partners and stakeholders.
• Commitment to UNICEF’s mission and child‑rights agenda.
