Recoveries Manager

About the role

The Recoveries Manager will lead the development and execution of loan recovery strategies for a government‑owned microfinance institution, ensuring optimal recovery rates while minimizing portfolio losses.

Key responsibilities

• Design, review and implement loan recovery policies across all regions.
• Monitor arrears performance, identify problem loans and apply corrective actions.
• Execute the recovery plan and budget efficiently, staying within financial limits.
• Develop mechanisms to bring loans in arrears back to compliance and keep non‑performing loans within acceptable thresholds.
• Maintain documentation and procedures in line with the institution’s arrears escalation policy.
• Implement strong internal controls to prevent fraud and loss.
• Prepare and submit regular recovery performance reports to senior management.
• Handle customer inquiries and complaints related to recoveries promptly and professionally.
• Identify recovery‑related risks and propose mitigation strategies.
• Analyze default trends and recommend improvements to lending practices.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, banking, microfinance or business administration from an NCHE‑accredited institution (Master’s degree acceptable).
• Minimum five years of relevant work experience, including at least three years in a management role.
