Fixed Assets Accountant

About the role

The University of Malawi is seeking a Fixed Assets Accountant to manage the lifecycle of all college and centre fixed assets. The role involves accurate recording, valuation, and disposal of assets in compliance with statutory reporting requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Extract details of all acquired assets in liaison with the Stores Officer and record them in the Sage ACCPAC fixed‑asset module.
• Identify assets for disposal in coordination with the College Board of Survey.
• Maintain office asset schedules for all college offices and update asset locations as movements occur.
• Prepare fixed‑asset returns, reports for management and audit purposes, and facilitate annual revaluations for statutory financial reporting.
• Ensure proper documentation and compliance with internal controls throughout the asset management process.

Required profile

• Diploma in Accounting (minimum qualification).
• At least 3 years of experience in fixed‑asset management and accounting.
• Familiarity with the SAGE ACCPAC ERP accounting package.
