Medical Officer

About the role

Provide clinical and administrative leadership in Medical Services as appropriate, in collaboration with the Chief Medical Officer.

Key responsibilities

• Perform physical examinations on patients, including solicitation and interpretation of medical tests to check for signs of disease, trauma, or other medical conditions.
• Review patients' medical history, diagnose conditions, develop treatment plans and provide follow‑up care.
• Perform approved clinical procedures and manage common medical and surgical emergencies.
• Conduct assessments, treatments, injury classification, determine fitness for duty and prepare medical reports.
• Coordinate chronic illness activities such as HIV, TB, high blood pressure and diabetes and ensure follow‑up.
• Participate in on‑call emergency medical coverage at the hospital or clinic.
• Oversee and monitor clinical services provided by clinicians.
• Provide oversight for Medical Emergency Response and Preparedness Program, liaising with internal and external stakeholders.
• Manage and directly oversee Laboratory, Public Health and Radiology functions.
• Promote and adhere to Illovo’s procedures, policies and guidelines, including HSE, Competitive Law and Anti‑Bribery and Corruption.
