Nurse/Midwife Technician – Tenured (2 positions)

About the role

The University of Malawi is seeking two qualified Nurse/Midwife Technicians for a tenured position within its health services. The role involves delivering comprehensive nursing care to patients, students and staff at the university clinic.

Key responsibilities

• Take vital signs and monitor patient health status.
• Administer and monitor medications.
• Provide nursing care, including counseling of patients and guardians.
• Facilitate introduction of staff and student medical schemes.
• Implement community outreach programmes.
• Organise and deliver health‑related training programmes.
• Maintain patient records, drug inventories and supply data.
• Recommend re‑ordering and disposal of drugs and medical supplies.

Required profile

• Diploma in Nursing and Midwifery from a recognised institution.
• Minimum five years continuous post‑registration experience in a busy clinic or hospital.
• Fulfilled CPD for the year 2026‑2027, certified by the registration body.
• Certified provider in STI management, ART/TB management, Youth Friendly Health Services and Cervical Cancer Screening.
• Member of the Nurses and Midwives Council of Malawi.
• Experience in a higher‑education clinic facility is an advantage.
