Laboratory Technician (UM 10)

About the role

The University of Malawi is inviting applications for a Laboratory Technician (UM 10) to join its campus laboratory team. The successful candidate will support teaching, research and outreach activities by ensuring the laboratory operates safely and efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Implement standard operating procedures, laboratory rules and regulations.
• Maintain, repair and clean laboratory equipment and accessories.
• Conduct or support demonstrations during laboratory sessions.
• Orient and support laboratory users on procedures, rules and safety protocols.
• Maintain inventory of laboratory resources and manage stock levels.
• Implement occupational health and safety systems within the laboratory.
• Support academic research and outreach services.
• Document and archive results of laboratory analyses.

Required profile

• Diploma in a relevant scientific or technical field.
• At least three years of experience working in a laboratory environment.
