Human Resource Officer

About the role

The Human Resource Officer will work full‑time on‑site at the Malawi School of Government in Lilongwe, overseeing daily HR operations and supporting a positive, inclusive workplace.

Key responsibilities

• Manage recruitment, selection, onboarding and employee records.
• Support performance management and staff training initiatives.
• Implement HR policies and ensure compliance with labour laws and institutional regulations.
• Assist with payroll, benefits administration and preparation of HR reports.
• Handle employee relations matters and collaborate with department heads.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Public Administration, Business Administration or related field; HR certification is a plus.
• Relevant experience in HR roles within the public sector, education or training institutions.
• Strong interpersonal, communication and conflict‑resolution abilities.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and work effectively with diverse teams.

Required skills

• Proficiency with HR information systems.
• Advanced use of Microsoft Office applications.
• Data reporting and analysis capabilities.
