Director of Distribution and Customer Service

About the role

The Director of Distribution and Customer Service reports to the Chief Operations Officer and leads the Distribution Licensee as a Strategic Business Unit. The role is responsible for planning, organizing, directing and controlling distribution operations, sales and support functions to ensure reliable, efficient and cost‑effective electricity supply.

Key responsibilities

• Guide the Distribution Licensee in preparing inputs for the corporation’s strategic and business plans and represent it in planning processes.
• Ensure departmental action plans align with corporate business plans and that material, human and financial resources are available for implementation.
• Prepare and manage the division’s revenue and capital budgets to support strategic objectives.
• Oversee operations and maintenance of the distribution network, emphasizing quality and reliability of supply.
• Monitor progress of sub‑divisions, taking corrective actions and adjusting strategies as needed.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and a relevant master’s degree from a recognized university.
• Registered member of the Malawi Engineering Institution (MEI) with at least ten years of experience, including seven years at executive or senior management level.
• Experience in the power supply industry is an advantage.
