Project Engineer – Debottlenecking

About the role

The Project Engineer will provide engineering leadership and technical oversight for the Nchalo Debottlenecking Programme. You will ensure designs, installations, testing and commissioning are executed to approved specifications, standards and project requirements, supporting the Project Manager to achieve project objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Lead engineering workstreams, reviewing designs, specifications, drawings and calculations.
• Coordinate contractors, consultants, OEMs and site resources for safe, efficient execution.
• Conduct technical reviews, risk assessments, constructability reviews and quality inspections.
• Support procurement with technical scopes, bid evaluations and equipment recommendations.
• Develop commissioning plans, testing procedures and technical acceptance protocols.
• Validate equipment sizing and technical solutions against throughput, energy balance and reliability targets.
• Investigate performance shortfalls and coordinate corrective actions before final acceptance.
• Lead technical commissioning, verify system performance, reliability and safety before handover.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial or Process Engineering.
• Minimum 7 years’ experience in manufacturing or industrial project environments, preferably in sugar, mining, food or similar process industries.
• Experience in brownfield plant upgrades, debottlenecking or capacity‑expansion projects and in commissioning/start‑up activities.

Required skills

• Equipment sizing and capacity analysis.
• Familiarity with OCMS or similar capital planning/project tracking systems (preferred).
