Country Manager – Malawi

About the role

DHL Express is seeking an experienced leader to head its operations in Malawi. As Country Manager you will be responsible for driving growth, ensuring service excellence and representing DHL to key stakeholders across the market.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver service performance that exceeds customer expectations and differentiates DHL from competitors.
• Maintain and grow relationships with strategic customers to ensure retention and new‑business development.
• Promote a positive DHL image with customers, partners, industry bodies, trade unions and government/regulatory authorities.
• Achieve the annual business plan targets for revenue, cash flow, profit and service levels, taking corrective action when needed.
• Develop and execute local tactical plans aligned with regional and global strategies.
• Provide strong leadership, communicate goals and ensure effective implementation.
• Monitor market trends and competitor actions to inform strategy.
• Continuously improve business processes to boost productivity and add value.
• Oversee financial health, legal compliance and capital/debtor management.
• Plan and implement actions to improve service and transit‑time performance while managing costs.
• Define the country organization structure, roles, responsibilities and performance targets.
• Allocate resources and staff to meet global, regional and country objectives.

Required profile

• University degree with relevant commercial or business qualifications.
• Significant senior‑management or general‑management experience in express, logistics, aviation or similar service‑oriented businesses.
• Broad understanding of all functional areas and proven ability to manage a full profit‑and‑loss entity.
