About the role
Save the Children International is looking for a Budgeting & Reporting Assistant to join its Planning, Budgeting and Reporting team in Lilongwe. The role supports financial management of partnerships, donor reporting and internal budgeting processes, ensuring compliance with organisational and donor requirements.
Key responsibilities
- Review partner financial reports and supporting documentation for accuracy and compliance.
- Provide guidance to partners on financial reporting requirements and donor regulations.
- Conduct remote and field‑based reviews of partner expenditures and follow up on discrepancies.
- Prepare and process payments for the AICS PROMOSSO Project, including advance liquidations.
- Maintain accurate financial records and ensure proper authorisation of transactions.
- Support Budget Holders and programme teams with budget preparation, monitoring, and monthly Budget vs Actual analysis.
- Assist with donor and internal reporting, proposal budgeting and annual budgeting cycles.
Required profile
- Minimum Diploma in Finance and Accounting or equivalent; a degree in Accounting, Finance or related field is an advantage.
- At least two years of experience in accounting, finance, budgeting or financial reporting.
- Experience in the NGO or donor‑funded sector is preferred.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills.
- High integrity, professionalism and commitment to preventing fraud.
