About the role
The Danish Red Cross is seeking an Anticipatory Action and Innovative Finance Programme Manager to support the Malawi Red Cross Society (MRCS) in developing, managing, and implementing anticipatory action and innovative financing initiatives. Based in Lilongwe, the role will help protect vulnerable communities from disasters and climate‑related crises.
Key responsibilities
- Work closely with MRCS counterparts and consortium partners to establish and maintain an effective programme management system, ensuring progress according to project documents, logframes, budgets, action plans, and donor requirements.
- Support the development of innovative financing solutions for disaster risk management in Malawi.
- Collaborate with MRCS Finance and DRC Finance teams to ensure timely budget follow‑up and accurate forecasts.
- Provide programme management support for planning, revising, and implementing programme action plans and activities.
- Coordinate and monitor the implementation of Anticipatory Action initiatives.
- Oversee the ongoing innovative financing project, InsuResilience Flood Insurance Project, in close collaboration with DRC HQ and consortium partners.
- Engage with relevant government bodies (e.g., DCCMS, DWR, DoDMA) and facilitate briefings related to Malawi Risk Watch structures and data agreements.
- Contribute to regular contact and engagement with working groups, governmental, and non‑governmental institutions to strengthen national coordination.
Required profile
- Proven experience working with humanitarian partners, especially MRCS and consortium partners, on programme management.
- Experience in developing and implementing innovative financing solutions for disaster risk management.
- Strong background in budget management, financial forecasting, and financial reporting.
- Ability to coordinate with government agencies and facilitate multi‑stakeholder engagement.
