Tax Consultant – Business Tax

About the role

Deloitte is looking for motivated, detail‑oriented Tax Consultants to join its Business Tax practice in Malawi. The role involves supporting tax compliance and advisory services for a diverse portfolio of local and multinational clients, while developing technical expertise in corporate taxation.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare corporate income tax computations, returns, deferred tax calculations and related schedules in line with IAS 12.
• Conduct technical tax research, draft memoranda and support advisory engagements on tax planning, restructurings and risk management.
• Maintain accurate engagement documentation, meet statutory filing deadlines and ensure high‑quality client service.
• Assist in planning and executing multiple client engagements, monitoring progress and escalating issues as needed.
• Develop knowledge of Malawi tax legislation and pursue professional qualifications.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, Economics or related field.
• Progress towards or willingness to obtain a professional qualification (e.g., ACCA, CA, CPA).
• Graduate or up to three years of relevant experience in taxation, accounting or audit.
• Strong analytical, communication and organisational skills.

Required skills

• Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
• Working knowledge of IAS 12 (deferred taxation).
• Tax research methodologies.
• Financial statement analysis.
