Human Resources Associate – Malawi

About the role

GiveDirectly Malawi is expanding rapidly and needs a dedicated HR Associate to support day‑to‑day HR operations for field staff. Reporting to the HR Manager, you will provide hands‑on assistance across recruitment, onboarding, payroll, benefits, and employee record‑keeping.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with posting job adverts, coordinating interview logistics and maintaining candidate communication.
• Support skills assessments, reference checks and the onboarding process, including preparation of onboarding packs and orientation scheduling.
• Maintain confidential, audit‑ready personnel files in line with data policies and local labour regulations.
• Compile and verify staff data for monthly payroll submissions, benefits enrolment and routine claims queries.
• Manage leave and timesheet records, ensuring accuracy and timely approvals.
• Respond to routine HR policy queries and escalate complex matters to the HR Manager.
• Monitor progress on individual development plans and report status to the HR Manager.

Required profile

• Solid foundation in HR operations, preferably with experience in recruitment, onboarding, payroll or benefits administration.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to handle confidential information responsibly.
• Familiarity with local labour regulations and HR best practices.
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
