Welfare Officer

About the role

The Welfare Officer will ensure the well‑being and safety of employees and the surrounding community, with a special focus on vulnerable groups. Working across GardaWorld sites in Lilongwe, Blantyre, Dwangwa and Nchalo, the role creates a supportive environment and promotes mental‑health awareness.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement workplace initiatives that promote psychological well‑being.
• Challenge stigma around mental health and raise awareness within the organisation.
• Identify local psychosocial support providers and build collaborative relationships.
• Support the implementation of the Safeguarding/PSEA Policy and Code of Conduct.
• Deliver regular training and refresher sessions on PSEA standards, zero‑tolerance policies and mandatory reporting.
• Act as a confidential focal point for reporting concerns and manage survivor referrals for medical, psychosocial and legal assistance.
• Assist HR in investigating allegations, maintaining a safeguarding incident register and preparing periodic reports.
• Liaise with local authorities, NGOs, schools and community groups to establish trusted reporting pathways.

• Ability to challenge prohibited behaviours and promote a positive workplace culture.
