People Operations Associate

About the role

We are looking for a People Operations Associate to keep our Lilongwe and up‑country offices running smoothly. You will own HR processes, office administration and logistics, supporting Wave’s mission to build a cash‑less Africa.

Key responsibilities

• Implement and maintain HR policies, procedures and administrative systems across Wave Malawi.
• Onboard new staff, manage employee records (compensation, benefits, promotions, performance reviews, terminations) and process work permits.
• Serve as the primary HR business partner and point of contact for all people‑related matters.
• Oversee day‑to‑day office operations, health and safety compliance, utilities, security, supplies, equipment and inventory.
• Maintain a clean, organized workplace and manage cleaning and security staff.
• Handle bill payments for facility utilities and support improvements to the working environment.
• Arrange domestic and international travel, manage fleet, fuel and drivers, and control office budgets and procurements.
• Create monthly operational trackers and reports.
• Coordinate vendors such as the canteen and plan corporate events, happy hours, retreats and conferences.

Required profile

• Fast‑paced, data‑driven professional who enjoys building systems and getting things done.
• Strong organisational and multitasking abilities with a focus on detail.
• Legal work authorization in Malawi.
• Experience in HR administration, office management or related operations.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate across teams.
