Protection Coordinator

About the role

Oxfam is seeking a Protection Coordinator to provide technical leadership and ensure that protection principles are embedded across all humanitarian programmes. The role will guide safe and inclusive programming, strengthen safeguarding systems, and support partners in delivering protection‑focused interventions.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic technical guidance on protection mainstreaming, safe programming, inclusion, safeguarding integration, and accountability to affected populations.
• Embed protection principles across WASH, food security, livelihoods, emergency response, and recovery programmes.
• Strengthen identification, analysis, and mitigation of protection risks, gender‑based vulnerabilities, and exclusion risks.
• Support programmes and partners to comply with international protection frameworks, donor standards, and Oxfam safeguarding systems.
• Lead partner engagement, capacity‑strengthening, and localisation initiatives to promote equitable partnerships.
• Contribute technical input to concept notes, proposals, programme frameworks, and emergency response plans.
• Assist in preparedness planning, emergency assessments, response planning, and contingency systems with a protection lens.
• Generate evidence, support learning, and integrate MEAL processes related to protection.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Social Work, Human Rights, Development Studies, Social Sciences or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in protection, safeguarding, or humanitarian programming, including work with partners.
• Proven experience in multi‑country or regional systems, protection mainstreaming, and technical coordination.

Required skills

• Protection mainstreaming and safeguarding expertise.
• Technical guidance and capacity‑building for partners.
• Experience with accountability to affected populations (AAP) frameworks.
• Knowledge of international protection standards and donor compliance.
