Premium Cash Officer

About the role

Wave is hiring a Premium Cash Officer in Lilongwe, Malawi, to play a key part in its liquidity operations. The role serves customers and rebalances mobile money agents with cash or e-float, guiding and mentoring the Premium Cash Officer and handling conflicts that arise at the premium outlet. It is a permanent position based in the Lilongwe office, with possible travel to other field locations.

Key responsibilities

• Control access to the safe/cash house and manage cash in and cash-outs between the safe and the premium agent accounts.
• Hold end-of-day bill counts and maintain daily reconciliation of premium agent outlets.
• Ensure all cash management transactions are correctly recorded in the treasury system.
• Request sufficient funds from head office promptly so there are no service disruptions or delays at the outlet.
• Handle receipt and dispatch of cash through the Cash In Transit (CIT) team.
• Follow all cash management policies and guidelines, and escalate and follow up issues affecting the outlet.
• Track and monitor agents to keep them liquid, and support agents and customers with information on Wave's offers, account opening, systems, applications and physical cards.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, banking or a related discipline.
• 2+ years of experience as a teller, cashier or in cash management, reconciliation, liquidity management, cash handling or delivery, or a similar position.
• Work authorization in Malawi is required.
• Exceptionally organized, prioritized, customer-focused, detail-oriented, honest and proactive, able to work both independently and in a team.

Required skills

• Strong proficiency in English; knowledge of other local languages in Malawi is a plus.
• Cash handling, reconciliation and cash management.
