Insurance Officer Grade D3

About the role

The Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA), which assesses, collects and accounts for tax revenues for the Malawi Government, is recruiting an Insurance Officer Grade D3 in its Administration Division. The officer verifies the accuracy and completeness of information on insurance claims, applications and related documents, and produces reports that feed into decisions on all insurance cases.

Key responsibilities

• Handle claims linked to social protection, including work-related accidents, other accidents and death.
• Assist the Team Leader in setting up insurance cover for Bank Staff loans.
• Ensure policies, procedures and guidelines on insurance issues are followed.
• Investigate insurance claims to determine whether they are proper.
• Notify insurers when property damage occurs and collect and analyse claim data.
• Communicate with insurance brokers to obtain information needed to process claims.
• Liaise with the finance division to ensure timely settlement of premiums and follow up on premium payments and reclamation.
• Prepare monthly reports for the Team Leader and update existing policies to reflect changes in staff and the Bank asset portfolio.
• Maintain good relationships with insurance companies.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Dip. ACII or a related field.
• 5 years of work experience in a similar position.
• Background check of integrity required before appointment; only successful candidates are appointed.
