Investigation Officer

About the role

The Investigation Officer will lead the full incident investigation process for GardaWorld’s operations in Malawi, ensuring investigations are impartial, professional and respect human rights. The role reports administratively to the Country Director and functionally to the QHSE & Compliance Manager, and involves regular travel across the country.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct investigations impartially, fairly and in line with GardaWorld’s Incident & Investigations SOPs and Human Rights policy.
• Secure investigation scenes, collect evidence (photos, documents, statements) and interview witnesses and suspects.
• Complete and submit investigation forms using the latest templates from the GW UIP, adhering to formatting standards.
• Maintain an investigation register and ensure all incidents requiring investigation are addressed.
• Deliver incident reports within 24 hours and full investigation reports within 10 days of the event.
• Participate in monthly investigation reviews, Serious Incident After‑Action Reviews and follow‑up meetings with clients.
• Visit local police, councils and authorities when necessary to deepen investigation findings.
• Attend all relevant compliance trainings, seminars and meetings to keep knowledge current.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of incident investigation methodology and human‑rights considerations.
• Ability to travel country‑wide and work in remote locations as required.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for report drafting and stakeholder interaction.
• Detail‑oriented with the capacity to manage multiple investigations simultaneously.
• Proficiency in using investigation software/forms and maintaining accurate registers.
