Internal Judicial Service Vacancies – Multiple Positions

About the role

The Judicial Service Commission of Malawi is seeking qualified serving officers for several internal positions within the Judiciary, including First Grade Magistrate, Human Resource Management Officer, Law Clerk, and Assistant Human Resource Management Officer. These roles support the administration of justice and the effective management of judicial personnel across various regions.

Key responsibilities

• Exercise criminal and civil jurisdiction, hear and determine cases, and maintain accurate court records (Magistrate).
• Administer conditions of service, process appointments, promotions, and disciplinary matters, and supervise staff (Human Resource Management Officer).
• Interpret court proceedings, supervise clerical work, manage court records and exhibits, and handle correspondence (Law Clerk).
• Report vacancies, prepare shortlists, serve on interview boards, ensure staff performance and discipline, and assist with interpretation of service terms (Assistant Human Resource Management Officer).

Required profile

• Current serving officer within the Malawi Judiciary.
• Relevant academic qualification: LLB for Magistrate; Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business Administration or Public Administration for HR roles; Diploma in Law for Law Clerk; ABE/ABMA Diploma level 5 for Assistant HR Officer.
• Minimum four years’ experience in the current grade for HR and Law Clerk positions where applicable.
