Human Resources Officer – DWANGWA Project

About the role

The Human Resources Officer will support the HR department for the DWANGWA project, handling recruitment, employee relations, and compliance across project offices in Malawi.

Key responsibilities

• Facilitate onboarding, induction, and training on HR policies, disciplinary code, and ethics.
• Manage recruitment end‑to‑end: assess needs, advertise, shortlist, interview, reference checks and induction.
• Oversee disciplinary processes, grievance handling, investigations and corrective actions.
• Maintain HR records, contracts, promotions, salary changes and leave documentation in an accurate filing system.
• Administer benefits programs, payroll processing, leave management and retirement schemes.
• Represent the company in negotiations with staff representatives, unions and external labour officers.
• Monitor legislative changes, advise management on compliance and participate in litigation reviews.

Required profile

• Diploma in Human Resources, Business Studies, Administration or Public Administration from an NCHE‑approved institution.
• Minimum 5 years of HR management experience, preferably in high‑volume recruitment environments.
• Strong knowledge of Malawi labour legislation and industrial relations.
• Highly organized, detail‑oriented and capable of producing analytical reports.

Required skills

• Knowledge of records management and HR filing systems.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities for dispute resolution and stakeholder engagement.
