Program Manager – Child Protection Project

About the role

The Program Manager will provide overall technical and operational leadership for a child development, care, and protection project in Malawi. Reporting to the National Coordinator and General Secretary, the role ensures implementation aligns with workplans, donor requirements, and government policies.

Key responsibilities

• Lead coordination and implementation of project activities according to approved workplans.
• Develop and monitor annual, quarterly and monthly implementation plans.
• Engage with Government of Malawi institutions, district councils, local partners and community structures.
• Provide technical leadership on child protection, case management, family strengthening and related interventions.
• Ensure quality and timely delivery of activities, monitor progress and facilitate corrective actions.
• Collaborate with the MEAL Officer to track performance, results and learning.
• Prepare and review project reports and donor deliverables.
• Support budget planning and ensure alignment with approved budgets.
• Supervise and lead project staff.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Sociology, Development Studies or Community Development; Master’s degree is an advantage.
• Active paid‑up membership with ASWiM.
• Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in child protection, social work or community development.
• Proven experience in programme/project management and coordination.
• Experience working with Government of Malawi institutions and NGOs/donor‑funded programmes.

Required skills

• Proficiency in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
