Helpdesk Support Intern – MEMIS (Medical Equipment System)

About the role

This internship supports the national rollout of the Medical Equipment Management Information System (MEMIS) by providing Level 1 and Level 2 help‑desk assistance to health facilities across Malawi. Interns will gain practical experience in health informatics, user support, and system adoption while working closely with the Ministry of Health Digital Health Division.

Key responsibilities

• Provide first‑line support to MEMIS users, answering inquiries and troubleshooting access or navigation issues.
• Log, categorize, and track support tickets through the Ministry of Health help‑desk system.
• Assist with workflow‑related problems and data correction requests.
• Support user onboarding and refresher training sessions.
• Develop and update FAQs, user guides, and other support documentation.
• Participate in system rollout activities and monitor user support metrics.
• Analyze recurring issues and prepare summary reports for the Digital Health Division.

Required profile

• Degree or final‑year student in ICT, Health Informatics, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Basic understanding of digital health systems.
• Familiarity with DHIS2 or other Ministry of Health digital platforms is an advantage.
• Strong communication skills and ability to explain technical concepts to non‑technical users.
• Good documentation and record‑keeping abilities.
• Problem‑solving mindset and willingness to learn.
