IT Support Technician – Part-time, On-site

About the role

The IT Support Technician role at Softmix is a part‑time, on‑site position based in Zomba, Malawi. You will provide day‑to‑day technical support for desktops, laptops, peripherals and printers, ensuring systems remain operational and secure.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver technical support to end‑users, minimizing downtime and ensuring optimal system performance.
• Diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues promptly.
• Repair and maintain desktop computers, printers, and related peripherals.
• Assist with desktop setup, configuration, and troubleshooting.
• Maintain accurate records of support requests and resolutions.
• Coordinate with other IT team members to escalate complex issues.

Required profile

• Proven experience in technical support with strong problem‑solving skills.
• Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, on‑site team environment.
• Strong command of English (oral and written).

Required skills

• Practical knowledge of desktop computers and peripherals.
• Expertise in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues.
• Competence in printer support and computer repair.
• Relevant certifications such as CompTIA A+ or Network+ (highly desirable).
