Software Developer (Back-End)

About the role

This full-time, on-site Software Developer position is based in Lilongwe. You will design, develop, test, and maintain software applications that meet business requirements and technical standards.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop clean, efficient code for software applications.
• Implement back‑end services and APIs to support front‑end functionality.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve technical issues promptly.
• Optimize application performance and scalability.
• Collaborate with developers, stakeholders, and cross‑functional teams to gather requirements.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to architectural decisions.
• Document technical work and follow secure coding practices.
• Support continuous improvement of development processes.

Required profile

• Strong foundation in computer science concepts such as data structures, algorithms, and software engineering principles.
• Experience in back‑end web development, including building and integrating APIs, working with databases, and managing server‑side logic.
• Proficiency in at least one modern programming language and familiarity with version‑control tools.
• Solid object‑oriented programming skills and ability to apply design patterns.
• Effective problem‑solving, debugging, and communication abilities within cross‑functional teams.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field (or equivalent practical experience) preferred.
