Finance & Administration Manager – Malawi

About the role

The Finance & Administration Manager will lead the financial, procurement, logistics, human resources and administrative functions for the Abt Global Central Mechanism in Malawi. Reporting to the Chief of Party, the role ensures compliance, timely delivery of milestones and effective support for malaria vector control and HIV/AIDS service delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Chief of Party in meeting contractual milestones, performance targets and client acceptance criteria.
• Supervise the Procurement Manager, ensuring a procurement supply plan is submitted at least six months before campaign start and that purchase orders are issued on schedule.
• Monitor vendor deliveries, process invoices promptly and escalate any potential milestone or budget issues.
• Maintain project bank accounts, manage cash flow for bank, mobile and petty‑cash accounts, and oversee opening, modification or closure of accounts as needed.
• Ensure timely completion of weekend, month‑end and year‑end accounting closes with appropriate documentation.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing finance and administration in international development or health projects.
• Strong knowledge of procurement processes, treasury management and financial reporting.
• Ability to supervise staff, manage competing priorities and ensure full compliance with contract requirements.
