Experienced Driver for CHAI Field Operations

About the role

The Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI) seeks a professional driver to ensure safe, reliable transport of staff, equipment and documents across Malawi. The role supports field activities, construction sites, trainings and other official trips.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain all CHAI vehicles in clean, safe and operational condition, performing daily pre‑ and post‑trip inspections.
• Transport staff, materials and official documents to field sites, meetings, workshops and other destinations.
• Keep accurate vehicle logbooks, fuel records and submit required documentation.
• Coordinate refuelling, routine servicing, maintenance and repairs, ensuring all legal documents are up‑to‑date.
• Report accidents, vehicle defects or security concerns promptly to supervisors.
• Assist with loading/unloading supplies, photocopying, scanning and other logistics tasks as needed.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of driving, transport or logistics experience, preferably with international organisations.
• Valid Malawi driving licence (appropriate class) and Defensive Driving Certificate.
• Basic first‑aid knowledge and ability to identify common vehicle faults.
• Experience driving and maintaining 4×4 vehicles in challenging rural environments.
• Good knowledge of Malawi road network and road‑safety regulations.
• Physically fit, able to work extended hours, weekends or public holidays as required.
