Procurement Manager – Malawi Project

About the role

The Procurement Manager will lead the procurement function for the Malawi activity, ensuring that all goods and services are sourced in line with project budgets, USAID regulations and Abt Global policies. Reporting to the Finance and Administration Manager, the role works closely with technical and finance teams to support malaria vector control and HIV/AIDS service delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and manage the forecast and supply plan, procurement strategies and timelines for the 9‑month activity.
• Draft, issue and review RFQs, purchase orders and consultant agreements; convene evaluation committees and prepare bid matrices.
• Ensure competitive procurement, justify non‑competitive awards when needed, and maintain a procurement tracker for visibility.
• Coordinate with finance, IT and vector‑control teams to record equipment in the project inventory and obtain necessary customs clearances.
• Provide guidance and oversight to the procurement and office coordinator, and conduct orientation for new staff on procurement processes.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain or related field (or equivalent experience).
• At least five years of professional experience in procurement and logistics of commodities, preferably on USG‑funded programs.
• Knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and USAID procurement rules; UNDP CIPS level 3 certification is a plus.
