Examination Officer (UM8)

About the role

The University of Malawi is advertising one internal vacancy for an Examination Officer (UM8). The post covers the organisation and oversight of university examinations, tests and evaluations, including arrangements, results handling and quality assurance.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as a member of the relevant examination and evaluation committees of the University.
• Make all arrangements needed for holding examinations, tests and evaluations, and ensure results are declared on time.
• Prepare and communicate the examination programme in a timely way.
• Arrange for the printing of question papers.
• Recommend or communicate postponements or cancellations of examinations, in part or in whole, in cases of malpractice or other grounds, in consultation with the Deputy Vice-Chancellor.
• Initiate disciplinary action against candidates, paper setters, examiners, moderators or others involved who are found guilty of malpractice.
• Review results and trends of university examinations and report them to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor.
• Organise workshops for lecturers on new assessment trends, question repositories and the use of technology in paper setting and examinations.
• Promote the effective use of information and communication technology throughout the examination and evaluation process.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Education or any relevant field.
• Three years of relevant work experience.
