Education Advisor

About the role

The Education Advisor will support the implementation, monitoring and scaling of catch‑up projects across the organisation, working closely with strategic advisors in Malawi and the global education team. The role focuses on delivering high‑quality innovative hub activities and ensuring sustainability of educational interventions.

Key responsibilities

• Co‑design, develop and coordinate strategies that strengthen collaboration with staff and partners for project implementation and scaling.
• Contribute to sustainability deliverables and oversee the quality of innovative hub activities.
• Support the development of innovation proposals using field‑office expertise.
• Guide the identification, budgeting, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of catch‑up projects.
• Provide technical advice and capacity‑building support to internal colleagues and external partners.
• Ensure quality standards are embedded in project design, implementation and documentation.
• Stay updated on policy trends, research and best practices in education and share insights with stakeholders.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field (master’s degree is an advantage).
• Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar role within international development.
• Proven expertise in Catch‑Up or Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN).
• Experience working with innovation hubs, learning labs or professional development programmes.
• Familiarity with the Malawian education ecosystem and national education systems.
• Knowledge of programme and project‑cycle management, change management and capacity development.
