Chaplain (Student Welfare)

About the role

The University of Malawi is seeking a dedicated Chaplain to support the spiritual and pastoral needs of its student community. The role involves developing welfare policies, providing counseling, and coordinating religious activities across campus.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in developing, implementing, monitoring and reviewing student welfare policies, plans, strategies, systems, regulations and procedures related to chaplaincy.
• Provide advice to line managers on religious and moral matters.
• Offer general counseling and pastoral care to students.
• Attend to the pastoral needs of students and coordinate religious services in liaison with student leaders.
• Preside over ceremonies such as funerals, memorial services and other special events.
• Develop and maintain rapport between the University and religious bodies.

Required profile

• Diploma in Theology, Religious Studies or Spiritual Leadership (or related field).
• Minimum of three years relevant work experience in similar institutions.
