Education Advisor (International Development)

About the role

The Education Advisor will support the implementation, monitoring and scaling of catch‑up projects across the organisation, working closely with strategic advisors in Malawi and the Global Strategic Education team. The role combines programme design, technical guidance and capacity‑building for education partners.

Key responsibilities

• Co‑design, develop and coordinate strategies that strengthen relationships with staff and partners for project implementation and scaling.
• Contribute to sustainability deliverables and oversee the quality of innovative hub activities.
• Support the development of innovation proposals using field‑office expertise.
• Provide technical advice and capacity‑development support to internal teams and external partners.
• Ensure that project approaches are well‑thought‑out, documented and reviewed.
• Stay updated on policy trends, research and best practices in education and share insights with stakeholders.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field (master’s degree is a plus).
• Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar role within international development.
• Proven expertise in Catch‑Up and/or Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN).
• Experience with innovation hubs, learning labs and professional development programmes for teachers, school leaders and officials.
• Familiarity with the Malawian education ecosystem and national education systems.
• Knowledge of programme management, change management and capacity‑development processes.

Required skills

• Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
