Cashier – On-site (Lilongwe)

About the role

The Cashier will work full‑time on‑site in Lilongwe, handling daily cash and payment transactions for KhumChid Impact. You will ensure accurate processing of customer payments, maintain orderly records, and support the finance team in delivering a secure payment environment.

Key responsibilities

• Process customer payments via cash, mobile money, and electronic methods, and issue receipts.
• Balance the cash drawer at the end of each shift and reconcile basic transaction records.
• Maintain orderly payment logs and support routine reconciliation tasks.
• Escalate any discrepancies to the supervisor promptly.
• Provide courteous customer service, answer payment‑related queries, and direct clients to appropriate team members.
• Follow established financial procedures and internal control guidelines.
• Assist the finance and operations teams in maintaining a transparent payment environment.

Required profile

• Strong numeracy and accuracy in handling cash, mobile money, and electronic payments.
• Basic knowledge of bookkeeping or accounting practices.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Attention to detail, reliability, and ability to follow financial procedures.
• Integrity, discretion, and commitment to safeguarding funds.
• Secondary school certificate; a diploma in accounting, finance, or business is an advantage.
• Previous experience as a cashier, teller, or similar finance support role is preferred.
