Business Manager - Malawi

About the role

The Business Manager oversees the company's daily business operations in Malawi, making sure sales targets are met, customers are well served and business runs efficiently. The role leads teams, finds growth opportunities, manages costs and keeps operations aligned with the company's objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations so they run smoothly and in line with company policies
• Identify new business opportunities, expand market presence and grow revenue and profitability
• Develop sales plans, monitor performance against targets and improve sales results
• Build strong relationships with key customers and maintain high service standards
• Lead, coach and motivate employees, set team objectives and review performance regularly
• Monitor budgets, operating costs and cash flow with Finance
• Track market trends, competitors and customer preferences, and prepare business plans, budgets, forecasts and performance reports
• Ensure compliance with Malawian laws and company policies, and manage suppliers, distributors and regulators
• Improve processes to raise productivity and cut costs, and coordinate with Finance, HR, Logistics and Sales

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Sales and Marketing or a related field; a professional or postgraduate qualification is an advantage
• At least 5 years of business, sales or operations experience, preferably in a management role
• Experience in business development, revenue management, budgeting and team leadership
• Experience in manufacturing, trading, distribution or FMCG is an advantage
• Good understanding of the Malawian business environment

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and business reporting systems
• Strong leadership, decision-making, communication and negotiation skills
