General Manager – Commercial & Operations (Malawi)

About the role

The General Manager will lead, develop and consolidate the Company’s operations in Malawi, driving sustainable business growth, continuous revenue generation and operational profitability. The role focuses on transforming the business into a commercially active, financially self‑sufficient unit through opportunity conversion, strategic relationships, client expansion, cost control and margin maximisation.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute the annual commercial plan, identify priority sectors and prospect new clients.
• Negotiate commercial terms, prepare and approve proposals, and ensure follow‑up of all business opportunities.
• Prepare, monitor and control the annual budget, cash flow, working capital and profitability of contracts.
• Oversee contract execution, service‑level compliance, productivity, and continuous operational improvement.
• Manage administrative functions, ensure regulatory compliance, supervise HR processes and maintain corporate records.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Management, Economics, Business Administration, Finance, Engineering, Marketing or a related field.
• Proven experience in general management, commercial management or business development, preferably in competitive, results‑driven environments.
• Strong prospecting, negotiation and relationship‑building capabilities.
• Ability to interpret financial statements, manage budgets and assess profitability.
• Strategic leadership, integrity and the capacity to mobilise teams under pressure.
