Actuarial Intern

About the role

Join Old Mutual as an Actuarial Intern and gain hands‑on experience across multiple professional service areas. You will work under supervision, rotating through client diagnostics, data analysis and compliance tasks while building a solid foundation for a career in actuarial science.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose client issues by collating interview data and conducting initial analysis.
• Provide quality customer service, process cases and resolve complex queries.
• Participate in a community of practice to develop expertise in a defined consulting area.
• Deliver advanced product and service information to internal and external stakeholders.
• Extract, clean and input data into spreadsheets or standard formats for analysis.
• Collect and create knowledge assets such as best‑practice guides and case studies.
• Support personal capability building through formal and informal training activities.
• Analyse routine functional inquiries and propose effective solutions.
• Develop working knowledge of organisational policies, regulatory codes and operational compliance.
• Assist in implementing improvements and simple change‑management tasks.

Required profile

• Enrolled in or recently completed an NQF Level 5 (Higher, Advanced or Occupational Certificate) or equivalent qualification.
• Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail.
• Ability to work under varying levels of supervision and collaborate in team settings.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
