Accountant – Financial Operations

About the role

We are looking for a trustworthy, detail‑oriented Accountant to own our financial operations and ensure full compliance with statutory requirements in Malawi. The role involves managing day‑to‑day accounting tasks, preparing management reports, and supporting external audits.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate financial records using Zoho Books.
• Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports.
• Submit statutory returns on time, including PAYE, VAT, withholding tax and income tax.
• Perform bank reconciliations and manage cash flow.
• Process payroll and statutory deductions.
• Manage accounts payable and receivable.
• Prepare annual financial statements and support external audits.
• Ensure compliance with Malawian tax and financial regulations.
• Recommend improvements to financial controls and business processes.
• Maintain the highest level of confidentiality and integrity.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• Professional qualification such as ACCA, CIMA, CPA is an advantage.
• Minimum of 3 years’ accounting experience.
• Hands‑on experience with accounting software; Zoho Books preferred.
• Strong understanding of Malawian tax laws and statutory compliance.
• High level of honesty, professionalism and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and analytical abilities.
