Access to Finance and Grants Specialist

About the role

The Access to Finance and Grants Specialist will support UNDP Malawi’s Resilience and Sustainable Growth portfolio by designing and managing financial instruments that de‑risk private‑sector investments and facilitate grant funding for entrepreneurs and small‑scale enterprises.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and monitor grant financing mechanisms and de‑risking tools aligned with UNDP’s strategic objectives.
• Coordinate with government agencies, development partners, private‑sector actors and civil society to mobilize resources and ensure effective delivery of financial support.
• Provide technical assistance and capacity‑building to entrepreneurs, incubators and business accelerators throughout the project cycle.
• Track and evaluate the performance of financed projects, preparing analytical reports for senior management and donors.
• Ensure compliance with UNDP policies, SDG targets and Malawi’s national development frameworks.

Required profile

• University degree in finance, economics, development studies or a related field.
• Proven experience in grant management, financial instrument design or private‑sector development, preferably in a development context.
• Strong understanding of Malawi’s economic environment and the challenges faced by small‑holder enterprises.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
