Nutrition Officer (NO-2) – Fixed Term – Lilongwe, Malawi

About the role

UNICEF Malawi is seeking a Nutrition Officer (NO-2) on a fixed‑term basis to support the delivery of high‑impact nutrition programmes for vulnerable children, adolescents and women. The role focuses on maternal, infant, young child and adolescent nutrition (MIYCAN) services, including wasting management and humanitarian response.

Key responsibilities

• Support the planning, implementation and monitoring of MIYCAN interventions across communities and health facilities.
• Strengthen systems for early detection and treatment of wasting and contribute to humanitarian preparedness and response.
• Provide technical assistance to government counterparts, civil society and development partners.
• Generate evidence through monitoring, analysis and reporting to inform programme decisions and improve accountability.
• Collaborate with multisectoral partners to develop integrated solutions addressing the root causes of malnutrition.

Required profile

• Dynamic and committed professional with experience in nutrition programmes.
• Demonstrated ability to work closely with government agencies and development partners.
• Experience in humanitarian or emergency contexts is desirable.
• Strong analytical mindset to produce evidence‑based recommendations.
