Technical Lead – Climate‑Resilient Health for Southern Malawi

About the role

Save the Children is looking for an experienced Technical Lead to drive the Climate‑resilient Health and Wellbeing for Rural Communities project in Southern Malawi. The role will be based in Lilongwe and will guide a multi‑disciplinary team to strengthen health systems across six climate‑vulnerable districts.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic and technical leadership for implementation of health‑system strengthening, climate‑resilient infrastructure and WASH interventions.
• Oversee activities in more than 56 health facilities and support approximately 500 communities to improve early warning and response to climate‑related health risks.
• Coordinate with the Ministry of Health, donors, partners and Save the Children technical teams to ensure alignment with national health strategies.
• Lead technical teams, mentor staff, and promote learning, evidence generation and policy advocacy.
• Ensure monitoring, evaluation and research findings are integrated into programme improvement.

Required profile

• Advanced degree in Environmental Health, Public Health, Social Sciences, Environmental Studies or a related field.
• At least 10 years of experience planning, implementing, monitoring and evaluating health‑related interventions at national or international level.
• Demonstrated experience working with ministries of health, donors and multi‑sectoral partners.
• Willingness to travel frequently to project districts and to adapt working hours during emergencies.
