Assistant Information Officer

About the role

The Assistant Information Officer will support ESCOM in managing corporate information and ensuring proactive disclosure in line with the Access to Information Act. This role contributes to transparency, accountability, and the fight against corruption while enhancing service delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure full compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, especially the Access to Information Law.
• Assist in establishing processes for handling obligations under the Act and attend to information requests within prescribed time frames.
• Update the ESCOM website regularly with mandatory information about the corporation’s mandate and operations.
• Digitise records as prescribed by the Act and assist in publishing key information to reduce formal requests.
• Upload relevant information on the website and other communication platforms, including newspapers, TV or radio where necessary.
• Support the development, implementation and review of records‑management plans, policies, and strategies.
• Help organise training on records management and access to information.
• Process, preserve and manage disposition of official records, and document procedures for future reference.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, ICT, Management Information Systems, Public Relations, Library and Information Sciences or related fields.
• At least 1 year of relevant work experience.
