Plant Controller – Lilongwe, Malawi

About the role

The Plant Controller will partner with business units across research, quality, safety, commercial, production and inventory to drive financial performance and operational excellence at Bayer's seed facility in Lilongwe.

Key responsibilities

• Implement and maintain internal controls, supporting projects that verify savings and improve production efficiency.
• Cost corn seed for local production and import business; maintain cost estimates and material masters in SAP.
• Manage monthly closing, KPI reporting, balance‑sheet inventory reconciliation, and cost‑centre analysis.
• Determine unitary cost of goods manufactured, perform variance analysis against budget, forecast and long‑range plan.
• Lead special projects, including advanced manufacturing equipment savings calculations and documentation of seed destruction processes.
• Support SAP production process management, ensuring accurate process orders and material ledger entries.

Required profile

• Proven experience in finance or controlling within a manufacturing or agricultural environment.
• Strong understanding of cost accounting, transfer pricing and KPI management.
• Ability to work cross‑functionally with R&D, quality, safety and commercial teams.
