Claims Officer

About the role

Old Mutual is seeking a Claims Officer to manage the end‑to‑end claims process, ensuring accurate assessment, compliance and a positive customer experience. The role combines claims processing, document verification, risk management and customer communication within a regulated insurance environment.

Key responsibilities

• Receive, review, assess and calculate insurance claims in line with policy requirements.
• Analyze claim documentation for completeness and accuracy before authorising payments.
• Communicate claim status updates and required information to customers and stakeholders.
• Ensure all claims comply with internal policies, regulatory standards and industry best practices.
• Identify and mitigate financial or reputational risks, including early detection of fraudulent claims.
• Prepare and maintain accurate claim records and management reports.
• Recommend and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and customer satisfaction.
• Provide specialist product and service knowledge that may lead to sales generation.
• Perform any other duties assigned from time to time.
